By Megan Dalla-Camina
I love the process of dreaming big and seeing all of the possibilities for our lives. We also need to make sure that we are grounding our vision in the reality of our daily life, so we can set ourselves up to successfully realize our life vision without undue pressure and stress.
Here are some considerations to reflect on:
Assess resources and constraints
Honestly evaluate what resources (time, money, skills) you have and what constraints (responsibilities, physical limitations) you face. This can help you in setting realistic goals.
Set graceful timelines
Managing your dreams with realistic timelines that factor in grace and ease rather than drive and strive energy is important. Break down your goals into smaller steps and set achievable deadlines. One small action forward each day is a great goal.
Be flexible
Your path to achieving your dreams may not be linear and you get to be flexible in how and when things happen. Be open to adjusting your goals—or the methods of achieving the goal—as circumstances change.
Get support and feedback
Sometimes, getting an external perspective can help in grounding your aspirations and support the path to get there. Talk to mentors, peers or a coach to get honest feedback on your plans.
Plan for challenges
Anticipate potential obstacles and make a plan for how you’ll address them. This proactive approach can prevent discouragement when challenges arise or help you avoid them altogether.
Celebrate progress
Recognize and celebrate the progress you make, even if it’s small. This helps in maintaining motivation and acknowledging the effort you’re putting in to bring your dreams to life.
Create a vision board
As you become clearer on your future vision, create a visual representation of it with a vision board. This can be digital or physical. Include images, words, pictures of things that inspire you and anything that represents the life you want to create. Place it somewhere you can see it daily as you bring your vision to life.
Remember: You can inch yourself toward your ideal life. You don’t have to get there in one go. Small steps, done with intention, create radical results.
