There are plenty of great museums throughout the United States, whether you fancy art, history, or culture. Each city has unique museums and ours to offer visitors; here are three solid choices.
New York City, New York—The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)
The Museum of Modern Art is one of the most popular museums in New York City. It’s in Midtown Manhattan and is home to a contemporary art collection.
The MoMA also has a library and archives that contain more than 300,000 books and manuscripts. Admission to the MoMA is free for all New York State residents and students worldwide.
Fly into one of NYC’s three main airports, and you’ll be in the city that never sleeps in no time. From there, you can take a taxi, bus, or subway to get to MoMA.
Boston, Massachusetts—The Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) Tours
The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston is one of the largest museums in the United States. It houses more than 450,000 works of art, making it one of the most comprehensive collections in the world.
The MFA also has a research library with more than 1 million books and periodicals. Admission to the Museum of Fine Arts is free for Massachusetts residents and students in college, high school, and lower-level schools.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania—The Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA) Tours

The Philadelphia Museum of Art, founded in 1876, is one of the oldest and largest museums in the United States. It houses more than 227,000 works of art.
The PMA also has a library that contains more than 300,000 volumes. Admission to the Philadelphia Museum of Art is free for Philadelphia residents and students who can show a valid ID.
The best way to reach the Philadelphia Museum of Art is by taking the subway. The museum is just a few blocks from the City Hall station.
